The local safer neighbourhood team are holding a ‘drop in surgery’ so we can hear your thoughts on the community.

Please come along and tell us what is good, or bad, and we will take your thoughts to the Priority Setting Forum where our priority to work towards for the next 3 months will be agreed.

Have your say so we can get a true reflection on issues that affect Sawbridgeworth.

Look forward to seeing you!

Friends of Pishiobury - Next Work Party

19 Jul

The next Work Party will be Thursday 19th July. Meet in the main car park at 10 AM as usual. Tools provided but please bring gloves.

The task at the moment is uncertain and it will be dependent upon the weather and how many volunteers we get. If we have sufficient numbers we can install the enclosure. The side panels are constructed ready to go but the ground is rock hard and we may have a real difficulty in making the holes for the posts. Last CMS work party had this problem trying to put fence posts in. If we cannot do that then there will be another task we can carry out probably trimming around young trees and finishing path clearing work that CMS could not complete due to time, numbers and weather.

Hoping to see as many of you as possible,

MUSIC IN THE GARDEN AT QUINCE

Once again we are holding our annual Music in the Garden event .This time on Sunday 17th June from 2.00pm until 5.00pm. It will be in the garden of our house at 4 Newports Sawbridgeworth CM21 0HP

Veteran drummer Bill Cornell and his Golden Era Jazz Band will once again be playing for our enjoyment.

There  will be a licensed bar, for beer , including Old Speckled Hen at a very reasonable price, and wine and soft drinks.

Ladies from the Friends of the Jacobs and Gardens centres at Rivers Hospital will be providing their delicious cream teas. Should the weather be inclement or even the sun too hot there will be plenty of cover for you to shelter under. There will also be a tombola, and all proceeds from the afternoon will go to the Friends  who are a registered charity. The money will help provide extra facilities to improve the quality of life of those less fortunate than us who have suffered life changing brain injury.

Over the years , 30 plus now, we averaged over £2000 each time for local charities. As this is the last time we will be holding this event(due to the aging process), let us make it a really good one  for everyone concerned.

Tickets are £10 each children under 14 free, you can obtain these by phoning on 01279 722496 or by email to roger@rogerbeeching.com

I look forward to welcoming you to an afternoon of gentle music, some excellent sustenance  , and a relaxing family time.

Leventhorpe Free Big Draw Event - Living Paintings

12 Oct

The Late Night Big Draw is running for a second year at Leventhorpe School on Thursday 12th October 2017.

We are joining the world’s biggest drawing festival and will be inviting everyone in the local community to take part. The Big Draw is part of the organisation The Campaign for Drawing, whose one aim is to promote visual literacy and get everyone drawing. The theme for this year’s event is Living Lines.

The Leventhorpe art department have taken this theme one step further to create Living Paintings. We have selected five famous and recognizable paintings which will be brought to life through full sized theatre sets and living, breathing models.

Drop in to meet and draw from Magritte’s men in suits, Degas’ ballet dancers and even Frida Kahlo herself. Our Big Draw this year is part drawing event and part performance, as each of the paintings starts to move and come alive. Who can say what might happen?

No previous experience is necessary, just an enthusiastic approach.

The Leventhorpe Big Draw is a free event for the local community. It is open to anyone aged 8 to 108.

Each session will run for 1 hour starting at 6.30pm and 7.30pm. All equipment will be provided.

This drop-in event will be held in the main school hall. Plenty of parking available.
